Thanksgiving with Missing Family Members

I found this Thanksgiving poem that I think expresses what many are going through right now because of COVID. There are families who have planned a big gathering which has had to be cancelled because of this virus. As a result, family members will be spending Thanksgiving alone while their families are home sick. Other families will gather, but will have members missing because of death from this disease. I pray that those of us who are fortunate to gather with all our family members have an extra measure of thanksgiving and grace and keep the unfortunate many in their prayers for healing.

For those who have experienced loss, I pray for the healing of your grieving souls and ask that you find one thing to thank God for at this time of year despite your loss. It isn’t easy, as I myself have experienced the loss of a child at the holidays. I pray for comfort and healing as you move forward, but hold the memories of your dear ones close. Ask God for comfort and He will envelope you iin His arms and hold you and rock you as you weep and will turn your tears of sorrow into tears of joy. Trust Him.
He [God] will swallow up death forever.

The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces;
he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth.
The LORD has spoken.
In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God;
we trusted in him, and he saved us.
This is the LORD, we trusted in him;
let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.” -Isaiah 25: 8 & 9
